Virtual Passport DC

 

Passport DC is a month-long journey around the world highlighting DC’s thriving international diplomatic community and its lively and varied culture. Celebrated annually in May, which is International Cultural Awareness Month in Washington, Passport DC is 31 days of programming by 70 embassies and some of DC’s very best cultural institutions. Thousands of people enjoyed the popular embassy open houses, street festivals, performances, exhibitions, workshops, and more. The Embassy of Saint Kitts and Nevis & Permanent Mission to the United States will be partnering with Passport D.C in promoting the sister isles as an attractive destination for global audiences. This exciting event will take place virtually this year; as a result, the Embassy of St. Kitts and Nevis has prepared a weekly live broadcast via Google Hangouts. Week 3: Cultural Immersion to St. Kitts and Nevis

St. Kitts Carnival, Sugar Mas, is traditionally held in the month of December and culminating on the 2nd January. Nevis has ‘Culturama’ which is held annually in the months of July to August.

All walks of life are cordially invited to immerse in the exuberant energy that is St. Kitts and Nevis culture. Our ode to ancestral traditions and customs, coupled with the infectious rhythms of the Caribbean cultivates an explosion of culture that is expressed through various art forms such as, literature, fashion, music, photography, art & crafts, and festivals. The Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park

Steeped in a rich and tumultuous history that has shaped the island and its people, St. Kitts and Nevis were once considered the gateway to the Caribbean. Out of our history emerges monumental structures like the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, which serves as a testament to mankind’s infrastructural feat, and our country’s colonial past. Nevis is also home to one of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America, Alexander Hamilton.
